Palmar Abscess

Abscess is an circumscribed purulent inflammation of tissues with formation of a cavity filled with white matter. In case of palmar abscess it is localized on hand.

Abscesses may be formed round tendons which run through inner surface of fingers. It is connected with pervasive damage of one of crinkles on palmar side of finger. Thus occurs reproduction of microorganisms and formation of white matter round tendons that quickly damages tissue. The mechanism of tendons sliding damages so that finger almost not move.

Symptoms include swelling and inflammation of the finger, pains in area of tendon sheath and acute pains when moving with finger. Lymphatic glands behind abscess get increased, body temperature rises, appear chills and headache. The abscess area is red, during palpation patient may feel inflations of nearest to abscess lymphatic glands. Bone inflammation deeper than abscess is followed with increased pain.

Palmar abscesses are quite common and usually are resulted from trauma. Abscess on soft tissue of finger tip almost always appears after a slight damage, for example, splinter hitting or needling.

Diagnostics
During examination are noticed forced semiflexed position of fingers, their turgidity, puffiness, restriction and painfullness of movements, hand swelling. In case of interdigital localization of the process fingers may be spread, half bent and edematic. In the process are involved lymphatic glands and appear symptoms of common body intoxication. General blood test shows changes specific for inflammation.

Treatment
Surgical treatment includes opening, processing and drainage of affected area. Also antibacterial treatment .It is necessary to use specific medications such as staphylococcic antitoxin and specific gamma globulin. At the stage of recovery are used physiotherapeutic

Mumps And Male Infertility

Testicles are major male sex gland. This pair organ produces major male sex hormone, testosterone, and male sperm cells.

In case testicles tissue is affected, it leads to development of most severe form of infertility.

Mostly, the gland is exposed to the inflammation called orchitis. The inflammation breaks nutrition of adenoid tissue, thus tissue that was destroyed is unable to provide sex cells and sex hormones anymore.

Male infertility may be a complication of sinusitis, mumps virus and even influenza.

Orchitis causes:

• viral or bacterial infections which may spread through the blood from center of infection found in other organs of the body
• trauma (posttraumatic orchitis)

Orchitis symptoms:

• pains in testicles area
• scrotum increase (most frequently - on one side)
• edema of scrotum tissue
• increase of groin lymph glands on affected side

In assumption of orchitis or after trauma you should necessarily undergo an examination. After all examinations, the diagnosis should also be confirmed with ultrasound examination.

Orchitis is treated with antibiotics.

Prevention
major way to prevent men from infertility is to vaccinate them in childhood from mumps
sportsmen (boys and men) should use special devises to protect their groin from all possible traumas
